India – New Zealand tie abandoned due to rain

June 14, 2019

The clash between the two unbeaten sides of the tournament, India and New Zealand, turned out to be a damp squib. The match was called off without the toss being made due to rain at Trent Bridge yesterday.

The umpires officially called off the match at 7.30 pm (IST) and it was the fourth wash out of this tournament, third one this week. With not much hope of getting the ground ready in time, the officials saw sense in calling off the match around an hour ahead of the cut-off. India and New Zealand take a point each from this fixture.

New Zealand lead the points table with 7 points from four games, followed by Australia with 6 points from four games. India is placed third with 5 points from three games, while hosts England is in the fourth place with four points from their three games.
