Injured pillion rider dies at hospital

An 80-year-old woman, who was being treated at JSS Hospital in Mysuru for the head injuries she received after falling from the scooter on which she was riding pillion with her son, breathed her last yesterday.

The victim of the tragedy has been identified as Thimmamma, wife of late Kullari Karigowda and a resident of Siddharamanahundi in the taluk.

It is reported that Thimmamma, along with her son Mahadeva, were proceeding on a Honda Activa (KA-55 Q-9075) to the engagement ceremony of her grandson in Shivapura yesterday at about 12 noon, when Mahadeva who did not notice a speed hump, jumped over it resulting in Thimmamma falling from the vehicle and sustaining severe head injuries.

She was rushed to JSS Hospital here, where she breathed her last at about 4 pm yesterday after failing to respond to the treatment. The body was shifted to MMC&RI mortuary, where post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to her relatives. Varuna SI (in-charge) Jayaprakash has registered a case in this regard.
