Install traffic signal light at busy Millennium Circle

August 5, 2021

Sir,

It has been noticed with great concern that there is a lot of uncontrolled vehicular movement at the junction of Millennium Circle-LIC Divisional Office on Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway.

It is proving to be very difficult for pedestrians, especially senior citizens, ladies and children residing in the area, to cross the road at this junction, what with vehicles whizzing past in all four directions without a thought being shown by some rash drivers towards the lives and safety of commuters.

Quite a few accidents have already occurred at this busy junction, resulting in injuries to pedestrians and damages to vehicles.

This happens to be the most important junction which leads to five biggest Layouts — N.R. Mohalla, Rajendranagar, Rajivnagar, Udayagiri and Subashnagar. Above all, it is the first main junction on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway from where all the KSRTC/inter-State buses and private vehicles pass through, especially during office hours in the morning and evening.

Hence, I appeal to the traffic authorities concerned to take necessary steps to install traffic signal lights. At least to start with, please post one Traffic Police to monitor the heavy traffic and help the commuters to pass through safely, at the earliest and prevent any further mishaps.
