Mysore/Mysuru: The 42nd Dr. V. Subrahmanyan Memorial Inter-High School English Debate Competition organised by CFTRI School, Mysuru and sponsored by S. Sundaram was held at IFTTC Auditorium, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru recently.
Students from many schools across the city participated in the competition. Mahesh N. Urs, former Assistant Governor, Rotary International District 3180 and Hon. Secretary of Sri Jayachamaraja Ursu Education Trust, was the chief guest.
Dr. Arunchandrashekar, Retired Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI and Dr. Navin Kumar Rastogi, Chief Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI, were present. Judges for the competition were Prof. Charles Joseph, HoD and Assistant Professor, Teresian College, Mysuru; Vedavathi A. Sattur, Academic Advisor, S.N. Public School, K.R. Nagar; Dr. N.G. Nagakala, Retired Professor and Academician, Department of English.
The debate was on the topic: “Technology creates more jobs than it eliminates.”
The winners shield was lifted by CFTRI School while the runner-up shield was bagged by Excel Public School.
Dr. Shruthi Pandey, Hon. Vice-President, Dr. R.V. Shreedhar, Hon. Joint Secretary, School Principal Thankamma M. Theressa, Chairpersons, staff members of CFTRI School along with the accompanying teachers of the winning schools were present on the occasion.
