International Microbiology Conference ‘Microcosm 1.0’ from Nov. 15

Mysuru:  The Department of Microbiology, School of Life Sciences, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, has organised a two-day International Microbiology Conference Microcosm 1.0 — ‘Innovating Microbial Solutions Towards a Sustainable Future’ — at Sri Rajendra auditorium, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, on Nov. 15 and 16. The Conference will be held in hybrid mode.

Prof. Anil Kaul, Vice-Chancellor, PHFI/IPHS University and Director, Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad, will be the chief guest. Dr. B.M. Thyagaraju, Deputy Adviser, Science & Technology, NITI Aayog, will be the guest of honour. Dr. B. Suresh, Pro-Chancellor, JSS AHER, will preside over the event.

Prof. Arun K. Bhunia, Department of Molecular Food Microbiology, Purdue University, will deliver the Plenary Lecture. Dr. K.A. Raveesha, Head, School of Life Sciences and Convener of the Conference, Dr. P. Ashwini,

Co-ordinator, Department of Microbiology and Organising Chairperson of the Conference and Dr. Ann Catherine Archer, Organising Secretary of the Conference, will be present.

Leading Scientists from NCCS, Pune; Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; IISER, Kolkata; ICAR-IARI, New Delhi; NCBS, Bengaluru, will deliver talks during the Conference.

The Conference will showcase visionary keynote speeches, rigorous scientific presentations and dynamic discussions centred on unlocking the potential of microbes to tackle urgent global challenges. Attendees will explore cutting-edge biotechnological applications in agriculture, healthcare innovations, environmental re-mediation breakthroughs and advancements in industrial processes.

The event will foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, aiming to propel sustainable development through pioneering microbiological research. It is anticipated to highlight the critical role of microbiology in shaping a more eco-friendly and resilient future for generations to come.

Pre-Conference Workshop

A Pre-Conference Workshop (physical mode) on ‘Superheroes against Superbugs,’ aimed at creating awareness towards the global threat of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), has been organised on Nov. 14 at School of Life Sciences, JSS AHER.
