International Seminar at Vidyavardhaka FGC

Mysuru: Advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computer vision and forensic technologies are transforming the way text detection, handwriting analysis and document authentication are carried out across diverse domains such as law enforcement, cyber security, digital forensics and academic research. These emerging technologies have opened new avenues for innovation while creating opportunities for researchers, academicians and professionals to address real-world challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Recognising the importance of these developments and the need to promote research excellence, the Department of Studies (DoS) in Computer Applications of Vidyavardhaka First Grade College, PG Centre,  Vidyavardhaka Research Foundation, in association with IQAC, is conducting a one-day International Seminar in hybrid mode to provide a platform for the stakeholder to deliberate on ‘Computer Vision for Text Detection and Forensic Handwriting Analysis’ to provide a common platform for knowledge sharing, research interaction and academic collaboration among students, faculty members, researchers and industry professionals.

Dr. M. Basavanna, Professor & Chairman, DoS in MCA, Davangere University, Shivagangotri, Davangere, will inaugurate the International Seminar on July 31 at 10 am in the college auditorium. Dr. Shivakumara Palaiahnakote, Professor in Computer Science, School of Science and Engineering Environment, University of Salford, Manchester, UK, will be the resource person.

Gundappa Gowda, President, V.V. Sangha, Mysuru, will preside. P. Vishwanath, Secretary, V.V. Sangha, Shreeshaila Ramannavar, Treasurer, V.V. Sangha and Dr. K.C. Tejas Baba, Chairman, CMC, VVFGC, will be the guests of honour.

After the inauguration, there will be three technical sessions as follows, where Dr. Shivakumara Palaiahnakote will be the resource person for all the sessions. Technical Session-1: A Journey of Text Detection and Recognition in Natural Scene Images; Technical Session-2: Handwriting Analysis for Forensic Applications and Technical Session-3: How to Write a Tier-1 Scientific Article.

Teachers teaching in UG and PG Colleges, Professionals, Industrialists, Research Scholars and students will be participating in the International Seminar.
