Introduce spot penalty also

April 2, 2025

Sir,

The news item under the headline “Clicking Cops” (Star of Mysore dated Mar.23) provides significant relief to both motorists and pedestrians who follow traffic rules.

At present, many seasoned traffic rule violators continue to roam freely, despite the installation of 59 Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras.

Most of these habitual offenders either display a tampered or completely missing registration number plate. These individuals should be penalised on the spot, as simply uploading their traffic violations will not have any effect.

As mentioned in the news item, it is often observed that traffic cops on duty are either browsing their mobile phones or chatting with local commercial establishments. This behaviour should be addressed, as it hampers their ability to enforce traffic rules effectively.
