Iron rails stored behind Forest Department Guest House stolen

The rails were to be installed as barricades in forest borders

Hunsur: Iron railway lines, which were to be installed as barricades to prevent wild elephants from venturing out of forest areas and stored behind the Forest Department Guest House have been reportedly stolen. The Forest Department staff have recovered six rails and a complaint has been lodged at Hunsur Rural Police Station in this regard.

On Oct. 27, when Forest Guards Krishna Madar and staff of Gaadi Playa Beat of Kachuvahalli Range in Hunsur Wildlife Zone were conducting their regular beat, found a goods auto (KA-12-5099) transporting railway lines during checking and took auto driver 42-year-old Altaf Pasha of Shabeer Nagar in Hunsur Town into custody.

During interrogation, Altaf is said to have told the Forest officials that he was a scrap dealer and someone had sold the railway lines to him.

Based on the information provided by Altaf, the Forest staff seized the six Railway lines and have lodged a complaint against Altaf and the persons who had sold the Railway lines to him at Hunsur Rural Police Station.
