Mysuru: Demanding a probe into the alleged irregularities at University of Mysore (UoM) and Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), the Mysuru Vishwavidyanilaya Ulisi Horata Samithi has said that it would submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister as well as the Prime Minister seeking a probe.
Addressing a press meet at a private hotel in city on Wednesday, Samithi Convenor P. Jayaraj Hegde said that the KSOU was offering 66 Graduate and Under-Graduate courses as per UGC norms until 2009-10.
“But after Prof. K.S. Rangappa took over as the VC of KSOU in 2009, KSOU started offering more than 300 Technical courses in association with several private institutions, starting from 2010-11. Also, several Study Centres were set-up across the country. But these Technical courses had no AICTE approval and the courses were offered in violation of UGC norms,” he added.
As a result, the UGC cancelled the recognition of unauthorised KSOU courses, thus shattering the dreams of lakhs of students who had enrolled with it, Hegde claimed. Continuing, Hegde alleged that there were gross irregularities in the UoM when Prof. Rangappa was the VC.
Accusing Prof. Rangappa of illegal appointments during his tenure, Hegde alleged that the Rs. 1.1 crore Oval Grounds upgradation work was of poor quality. He also accused Prof. Rangappa of discrimination in awarding Fellowship to research scholars.
Another Convenor of the Samithi, M.J. Suresh Gowda, who also addressed the press meet, lashed out at Prof. Rangappa for playing with the career of lakhs of students enrolled with the KSOU.
Samithi office-bearers Ravinandan, Kamsale Ravi, Deepak Achappa and others were present during the press meet.
Its sad that as a student of MBA I am waiting for last 2 year to complete my last semester of the course. Yes, I do understand about the courses offered by KSOU are not as per the norms, but what happens to those courses which does not have any issues like MBA, Bcom etc…..
I would like to share that many students life has been seriously delayed and they are not able to be placed in any company, the most worry some fact is that they are not even able to return the money which has been paid to them as fee. So that we could look for some other alternative.
I would sincerely request you all to end this as soon as possible so that we resume & complete the course. I would be very grateful if they allow those candidate who have enrolled themselves with KSOU to complete their course.
I am deeply disappointed to see my other friend who have completed the courses and taken up good jobs. Please do something about this our future is at stake and we are not so well of family to start a fresh from the beginning with a different institute. The hard work and time lost during this course has seriously affected our life.
This clearly shows how good India is…..!
No one is worried about the future of the students all are busy in making there own money & playing the game safely
Because of some fraud people innocent students life are spoiled. I really feel ashamed when someone ask whats your qualification.
At the end i am still considered as 12 pass.
