ISHA Foundation to launch ‘Cauvery Calling’ on Sept. 3

Mysuru, Aug.30 (RKB&DM)- Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev’s ISHA Foundation will launch its ambitious ‘Cauvery Calling,’ an (Cauvery Koogu) outreach initiative to save Cauvery river at Talacauvery in Kodagu district on Sept. 3.

Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan here this morning, ISHA Foundation Convenor B.S. Subramanya said that the initiative will be launched at Talacauvery, the birth place of River Cauvery on Sept. 3. This campaign to save River Cauvery will travel through various places along the Cauvery basin and will terminate at Chennai after passing through Poompuhar at Thiruvarur in Tamil Nadu, covering a distance of about 1,500 kms, he said.

Pointing out that awareness programmes will be held during the campaign, with Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev addressing the gathering at many places along the Cauvery basin, he said.

That the initiative has plans to plant 2.42 crore saplings all along the Cauvery basin, as part of afforestation drive, he said.

Continuing, Subramanya said that after the launch at Talacauvery, the Sadguru will address the public, the details of which is as follows:

Sept.3 at Madikeri: 3.30 pm- Crystal Hall, near Sudarshan Circle.

Sept.4 at Hunsur: 4 pm – Gowramma Puttaswamappa Convention Hall.

Sept.5 at Mysuru: 6 pm- Amphi Theatre, Manasagangothri.

Sept. 6 at Mandya: 4 pm- Ambedkar Bhavan, Subhash Nagar.

Sept.8 at Bengaluru: 5.30 pm- Tripura Vasini Gate, Palace Grounds.

Noting that ‘Cauvery Calling’ is a policy based initiative with community participation and involvement of several other stakeholders, Subramanya highlighted the importance of saving Cauvery river, the lifeline of crores of people along the river basin in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
