J .S. Susheelamma (86), retired teacher and a resident of 10th Cross in V.V. Mohalla, passed away at a private hospital in city yesterday morning.

A spinster, she leaves behind two sisters, one brother and a host of students, relatives and friends.

Last rites were held at the foot of Chamundi Hill last evening, according to family sources.

Susheelamma began her teaching career about 50 years ago at Bharathiya Sthree Samaja in Yadavagiri. Apart from teaching in the school, she used to visit houses to know about children who had dropped out of school for various reasons, advice them, teach them for free and help them take up SSLC exams besides encouraging girl students in learning Hindi and tailoring.
