Jackfruit Festival on Aug. 6 and 7

Mysore/Mysuru: Sahaja Samruddha, an association of organic farmers, Rotary Club of Mysore West, SWISSAID and FiBL have jointly organised a Jackfruit Festival on Aug. 6 and 7 at Nanjaraja Bahaddur Choultry in city from  10 am to 8 pm.

Jackfruit Festival is a celebration of Karnataka’s exuberant revelry of jackfruit diversity which is at peril. The festival introduces Red, White and Yellow fleshed fruits, which are exclusive for their taste, shape and firm bulbs. The event features popular value-added products like jack ice-cream, jams, squashes, papads, halwa, kabab, holige  and many more.

For those interested in cultivating jackfruit trees, a variety of saplings including Chandra Bakke, Rudrakshi Bakke, Siddu Halasu, Byrasandra, Toobugere Special, All season Jack, Gumless and Super early are available for sale.

At the festival, jackfruit food competition will be held at 12 noon and jackfruit eating competition will be held at 2 pm on Sunday.
