Jain monk’s murder: Two accused sent to judicial custody

Chikkodi: The two accused in the murder case of Jain monk Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj of Nandi Parvat Ashram, Hirekodi in Belagavi district, have been remanded to judicial custody till July 21.

Following the end of period of seven days Police custody, prime accused Narayan Mali and second accused Hassan Dalayath were produced before Principal Civil Judge and JMFC Court in Chikkodi, Chidanand Badiger, on Monday, who passed the order remanding them to judicial custody. They were later taken to Hindalga Central Jail, in Belagavi, under the supervision of Circle Police Inspector R. R. Patil.

The monk went missing from his Ashram on July 5 and his body was found in a well at Katakbhavi in Raibag taluk in Belagavi district on July 8.
