Mysuru: Former Minister S.A. Ramdas inaugurated ‘Pradhan Mantri Janaushadha Centre’ at Srirampura Extension here yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramdas said that this was the 2,981st centre in the country.
Pointing out that the Union Government has aimed at crossing the 3,000 figure mark by the end of this year, he said that based on demand, the centre will release 123dungs, including those for diabetes, BP etc., in a fortnight.
Continuing, the former Minister said that the centre has planned to make available nutritious food for children and patients suffering from diabetes. Noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working on a National Pharmaceutical Policy, he said that he welcomes the idea of prescribing low priced and quality Janaushadha drugs by doctors.
Observing that everyone should support the Prime Minister’s initiative for curbing the pharmaceutical lobby, he said and added that more publicity campaigns should be launched for popularising ‘Janaushadha.’
Calling upon the members of the public, especially the youth for setting up the centres in every ward, he said that the Union Government will provide Rs.2.5 Lakh subsidy (Rs.10,000 for 25 months) for the general public and Rs. 3 lakh subsidy (Rs. 10,000 for 30 months) for SC/ST applications. Also, the banks will extend loans for setting up of the centres, he added.
Ramdas received useful suggestions from members of the public, which will be forwarded to the concerned Union Minister.
