Janthakal mining scam: HDK likely to move SC

June 17, 2017

Bengaluru: After getting temporary relief from Karnataka High Court in the Janthakal mining scam, former CM and State JD(S) President H.D. Kumaraswamy (HDK) is likely to move the Supreme Court. He is likely to file a Special Appeal in the SC next week.

Sources close to him said that the Special Appeal will state his version of the case where he will claim that the State Government has not provided full information to the Courts regarding the case.

He will apprise the Supreme Court that he had no role to play in Janthakal mining scam and the Congress Government failed to provide full information about the case to the Courts, sources said.

Sources said that Kumaraswamy will, in his SC appeal, state that though the Government has no proof of his role in the scam it wanted to pursue the case due to political vendetta.

Meanwhile, in the Legislative Assembly, the former CM said that he won’t be intimidated by the politics of “revenge, caste and vendetta.” He alleged that this kind of politics had become ingrained in the Congress Government and took pot-shots at CM Siddharamaiah and other Congress leaders.

“I warn leaders sitting in glass houses not to throw stones at others. History has proven that the glass house is not a permanent place for any leader or political party,” Kumaraswamy said during a debate in the Assembly on demands of various Departments.

The leader’s remarks come also at a time when the JD(S) foiled the Congress’ attempt to oust D.H. Shankaramurthy from the Legislative Council Chairman’s post.

“Let them come up with more cases against me. Media has also been speculating if I will go to jail, and what will happen to my Chief Ministerial ambitions. I’m confident of coming out of this unscathed and returning to power,” he added.
