Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation is doing everything within its reach to regain the top spot in the Swachh Survekshan 2019 rankings in the country. As part of this mission, nearly 500 students from four schools took out a jatha advocating plastic-free city this morning.

The jatha was launched by four-year-old Ishanth Chetan, Brand Ambassador, Swachh Survekshan 2019 for MCC at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple. He administered the cleanliness oath. His solo campaign on plastic-free city had gone viral on social media.

The jatha with students from BM Sri Vidyavardhaka School, Kuvempunagar, KNC Innovative, Small Wonder and Eshwar Vidyalaya passed through K.R. Circle, Devaraj Urs Road and then reached the DC Office.

On the way, the students distributed paper bags to shopkeepers and the public on Devaraj Urs Road and a few were found explaining the importance of a plastic-free city.

MCC Standing Committee Chairpersons Lakshmi M. Shivanna, Shobha, Ashwini Ananthu, Ramani (Ramesh), MCC Superintending Engineer G.R. Suresh, Lions Club of Mysore’s Ravindranath, MCC Health Officer Dr. D.N. Nagaraj, MCC Environmental Engineers Poornima, Mythri, Madhusudhan and others participated in the jatha.
