JD(S) can win 130 seats: HDK

May 11, 2017

Mysuru: Asserting that the JD(S) can win 130 to 140 seats in the 2018 Assembly Polls if booth-level party workers gave their best, State JD(S) President and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy has called upon the booth-level workers to shun differences and work unitedly for the party’s victory.

Addressing a booth-level meeting of party workers at Sa.Ra. Convention Hall here yesterday, Kumaraswamy asked party workers to ensure victory in at least 10 out of the 11 Assembly seats in the district.

Highlighting the need for forming booth-level committees each comprising 15-20 party workers, he said that the JD(S) was like a factory that ‘creates’ leaders.

Asserting that the JD(S) will not have any truck with any other party, the former CM maintained that the party will issue tickets only after committing local leaders and workers.

Stating that the JD(S) will waive off farmer loans, provide employment to the jobless and a monthly honorarium of Rs. 5,000 to aged persons who have crossed 70, he said that the party will initiate many other pro-people initiatives if the party was voted to power.

Accusing the State and Central Governments of playing with the life of common man, he said that the Centre and State were blaming each other over drought relief funds.

Alleging that Chief Minister Siddharamaiah was doing little for welfare of the farming community, which is reeling under the worst drought in over four decades, the State JD(S) Chief hit out at the CM for failing to compensate the farmers for crop loss.
