Jewellery thefts: Women among three arrested

Mysore/Mysuru: Lashkar Police have cracked three jewellery theft cases by arrested two women and a man. The Cops have also recovered 125 grams gold jewellery worth about Rs. 16.50 lakh from them.

Those arrested are Panjavarnam, Sumadi and Raghu, natives of Tamil Nadu. While Panjavarnam is the wife of Raghu, Sumadi is a relative of Raghu.

On Jan. 24, the three accused had lifted gold jewellery of a woman from Gundlupet taluk at Sub-Urban Bus Stand. The woman, along with her husband and son had come to city to take part in a function. After taking part in the function, the woman and her family members came to Sub-Urban Bus Stand to take a bus to Gundlupet.

When the woman was boarding the bus in the rush, the three accused somehow lifted a 40-gram two strands gold chain and gold mangalya pendant among other gold jewellery, all weighing a total of 47 grams and had fled from the spot.

Lashkar Police, who had registered a case, began their investigation. Also, Sagar Police Commissioner had formed a special Police team which arrested the three accused.

Lashkar Police, who interrogated the accused recovered 47 grams stolen jewellery in the gold lifting case at Sub-Urban Bus Stand. The Cops also came to know that the accused were involved in two more theft cases in their limits and recovered 78 grams gold jewellery. In all, a total of 125 grams gold jewellery worth Rs. 16.50 lakh in the three cases.

The accused were produced before a Court which remanded them to judicial custody.

City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, DCP (Crime and Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP K. Rajendra guided Lashkar Inspector T.S. Lolakshi, Sub-Inspectors M. Radha and N.V. Rangaswamy and staff Suresh, Ravikumar, Manjunath, Chowdappa Pasigar, Abdul Rehaman, Ashvini Helawar and Selvakumar in the nabbing and recovery operation.
