November 13, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: A former office-bearer of a house building co-op society has allegedly cheated a 54-year-old nurse of Rs. 70,000 cash and 131 grams gold jewellery on the pretext of getting her son a First Division Assistant (FDA)  job at the society.

While the nurse who was cheated is Chandrakala, a resident of KHB Colony in Mandya, the accused is B.S. Lokeshwar, a former office-bearer of Yashaswini House Building Co-operative Society on Bannur Road in city.

Details: When Lokeshwar was the office-bearer of the society, he had given a job to Chandrakala’s son K. Nishanth, who had studied up to PUC. Meanwhile, Lokeshwar in November 2017, approached Chandrakala and told her that he could get her son a FDA job at the society for which she had to pay Rs. 5 lakh and had asked Nishanth to submit an application, Chandrakala has stated in her complaint dated Nov. 10.

Believing Lokeshwar, Chandrakala reportedly gave him Rs. 2.20 lakh cash and told him that she would pledge her 300 grams gold jewellery and give him the remaining amount. Lokeshwar himself took the gold and pledged it at a Bank and took the money.

The complaint further stated that in 2018, Chandrakala, who approached Lokeshwar, enquired about the job for her son and also told him to return the cash and gold if it was not possible for him to get the job following which, Lokeshwar returned Rs. 1.50 lakh and 169 grams gold jewellery.

She has further stated that Lokeshwar did not return the remaining Rs. 70,000 cash and 131 grams gold. Based on the complaint, Alanahalli Police, who have registered a case,  are investigating.
