Mysuru: University of Mysore (UoM) Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna, reacting to the allegation of Journalism Department Assistant Professor Dr. N. Mamatha that she had not been given ‘Probationary Period Letter,’ said that it was nothing but a conspiracy against him.
Dr. Mamatha had staged a dharna in front of UoM Vice-Chancellor’s Chambers on Monday alleging that she had not been given ‘Probationary Period Letter.’ In relation to this, Prof. Rajanna addressed the media in front of B.M. Shri Auditorium in Manasagangothri yesterday and had said that according to law, she has to submit ‘Probationary Period Declaration’ application. However, she had not submitted any application, he alleged.
Earlier, when Prof. T.K. Umesh was the in-charge VC, the files relating to those who had submitted applications for ‘Declaration of Probation’ had been received in the Registrar’s Office. Later, Probationary Period had been declared for all those who had applied and letters given. However, Dr. Mamatha had not given any application. Besides, as soon as Probationary Period was declared, she is not even appearing for work properly,he charged.
In spite of personally visiting the Journalism Department three times, she was not found in the Department. Hence, a notice was issued to her and she did not give a convincing reply but instead said that she was in the library with her students. However, it was found that her claims were false, Prof. Rajanna said.
She lives in Bengaluru and comes to work only once in a week and signs the attendance register for the week. There are proofs available to this effect with him, he claimed.
Dr. Mamatha has addressed me in singular showing disrespect. Her husband Prof. Nagesh Bettakote is the in-charge VC of Music University.
He had earlier approached me with regard to this issue. However, I had told him that action will be taken according to law. He was told that his wife had to submit an application, clarified Prof. Rajanna.
Dr. Mamatha gets ‘Probationary Period Letter’
Meanwhile, UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, asking her to withdraw her agitation on Monday, had obtained the file from the Registrar’s Office and got the letter signed from Prof. Rajanna, thus drawing an end to the controversy.
Speaking to Star of Mysore here this morning, Prof. Hemantha Kumar said that the file relating to Dr. Mamatha’s letter was already there with the Registrar when Prof. Umesh was the in-charge VC. However, the file relating to her was stuck in the Registrar’s Office for long. Later, it was found in the Registrar’s Office after a search. Thereafter, the Registrar signed the file, he added.
