Journalist’s books on circles and gullies of Mysuru released

Mysore/Mysuru: Senior Journalist Iythichanda Ramesh Uthappa’s three books  ‘Mysuru Vruttagala Vruttanta’, ‘Sindhoora’ and ‘Mysurina Galli Kathe’ were released at a programme organised under the joint aegis of Mysuru Cultural Association, Vismaya Prakashana and KSGH Music and Performing Arts University, at the Music Varsity premises on JLB Road here recently.

While Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) Assistant Director Sandesh Kumar released the book ‘Mysuru Vruttagala Vruttanta’, Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) awardee Lt. Col. (retd.) P.S. Ganapathi released the book ‘Sindhoora’ and MLA T.S. Srivatsa released the book ‘Mysurina Galli Kathe.’

Speaking on the occasion, Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji said that the author has chosen three different subjects to pen the books.

Stating that it is a good choice to write on the lanes and bylanes (gallis) of the city, the Seer said that the author Iythichanda Ramesh, who wanted to become a soldier, has now taken the pen to write books.

“The heroic  acts of our soldiers that have been explained in the book ‘Sindhoora’ is an inspiration to our younger generation. Every village, circles, roads, lanes and bylanes in towns and cities have their own history. In this backdrop the books ‘Mysuru Vruttagala Vruttanta’ and ‘Mysurina Galli Kathe’ contain interesting and informative facts about the history and reasoning behind the naming of roads and circles of our city,” the Seer said and wished that the second edition of the Ramesh’s books come out shortly.

MLA Srivatsa, in his address, lauded the author for his efforts on educating citizens on the reasoning behind naming of roads, circles, lanes and bylanes of our city, while also highlighting the richness of our land’s culture, traditions, practices and history.

 Music University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nagesh V. Bettakote, Registrar Dr. M.G. Manjunath, Mysuru Cultural Association President A.P. Nagesh, Vismaya Prakashana’s Prakash Chikkapalya and author Iythichanda Ramesh Uthappa were present.
