JSS AHER ranked among Top 100 Universities globally

THE Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026 

Mysuru: JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, has once again strengthened its position among the world’s leading Universities for sustainability by securing an Overall Global Rank of 74 and 3rd Rank in India in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, announced at the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

This achievement comes under the visionary leadership of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Chancellor of JSS AHER and reflects the institution’s continuing commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  

JSS AHER delivered an exceptional performance across several SDGs, securing World Rank 11 and India Rank 1 in SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), World Rank 14 and India Rank 2 in SDG 1 (No Poverty), along with strong performances in SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).  

The announcement coincided with the active participation of a senior JSS AHER delegation at the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2026.  

A presentation by Dr. B. Suresh, Pro-Chancellor, titled ‘Transforming India’s Sickle Cell Disease Response: From Research to Impact – Advancing Health Equity for All’ highlighted how JSS AHER has partnered with Governments, communities, healthcare professionals and research institutions to address Sickle Cell Disease among tribal population through evidence-based interventions, community engagement, implementation science, workforce development and policy translation.   

Another significant contribution from JSS AHER was its participation in the international panel discussion on Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Development and Healthcare Transformation. Representing the University, Dr. B. Suresh shared JSS AHER’s vision of leveraging Artificial Intelligence to strengthen healthcare delivery, improve educational outcomes, accelerate research, support evidence-based decision-making, and address societal challenges. The panel strongly emphasised that AI must remain ethical, inclusive, accessible, and aligned with human values to create meaningful and sustainable impact.  

Dr. V. Prashant, Dean of Research, JSS AHER, moderated the panel discussion. The delegation from JSS AHER that participated in the event also included Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha; Dr. A.N. Mahalakshmi, Dean, Quality Assurance; Dr. Divya P. Kumar, Professor of Biochemistry; Dr. Sathya Narayana Reddy and N. Harshith.  

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Dr. Suresh said, “This recognition is a validation of our belief that Universities must be agents of societal transformation. We dedicate this achievement to the vision and blessings of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji.”
