JSS and St. Mary’s Girls High School teams triumph in St. Chavara Cup

Mysuru: JSS High School, Suttur and St. Mary’s Girls High School, Mysuru, respectively won St. Chavara Cup Inter-School Volleyball and Throwball Championship organised by Christ School, Thandavapura, here.

A total of 21 teams of various reputed schools from Mysuru district participated in this Championship.

The winners bagged a trophy and Rs. 5,000 cash prize while the runners-up received Rs. 3.000 cash prize and a trophy.

In Volleyball Championship for boys, JSS High School, Suttur, won the first place while SVEI School, Mysuru, team was runners-up. Host Christ School, Thandavapura, boys team secured third place.

In Throwball, St. Mary’s Girls High School, Mysuru, bagged first place while girls of Christ School, Thandavapura, secured second whereas Bantwal Madhav Shenoy High School (GSSS) secured third place.

Earlier, Nanjangud Taluk Physical Education Officer Shivakumar inaugurated the Championship. Christ School, Thandavapura, Principal Rev. Fr. Sebastian PJ CMI presided over the programme. Rev. Fr. Renny John CMI, Manager and Administrator of Christ School, Thandavapura and Rev. Fr. Saneesh Patickhel CMI were present.

Sports torch was relayed by changing hands of captains of various teams and finally cauldron was lit by the chief guest and all the dignitaries.

All the trophies and certificates were distributed by Fr. Anthappa Swamy, Vicar Nanjangud Parish. School Principal Rev. Fr. Sebastian PJ, Vice-Principal Jacintha Veigas and Staff Co-ordinator Krishna were present on the occasion. Referees were felicitated on the occasion.
