JSS Mysuru Urban Haat to host 4-day District-level Handloom Fair

Mysuru: As part of the 12th National Handloom Day celebrations, JSS Mysuru Urban Haat is organising its first-ever four-day District-level Handloom Fair with the sponsorship of the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

The Handloom Fair will be held at the JSS Mysuru Urban Haat premises, Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru, from Aug. 6 to 9 between 10 am and 9 pm.

The fair will be inaugurated tomorrow at 4 pm by Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa. Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Additional Commissioner B.N. Veena and Department of Handlooms and Textiles (Mysuru) Deputy Director B.S. Somashekar will be the guests.

The four-day fair will bring together Handloom Cooperative Societies and skilled weavers from various districts of Karnataka, showcasing and offering for sale an extensive range of authentic handloom products.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore and purchase premium-quality handloom sarees, dress materials, shawls, towels, home furnishings and a wide variety of traditional handwoven textiles under one roof.

By purchasing directly from the weavers, customers can enjoy high-quality, authentic handloom products without the involvement of intermediaries, while simultaneously supporting the livelihoods of Karnataka’s handloom artisans and preserving the State’s rich weaving heritage.

To mark the occasion of National Handloom Day, a series of vibrant cultural programmes reflecting Karnataka’s rich artistic traditions will be presented every evening throughout the fair.  The event will also honour senior and accomplished handloom weavers in recognition of their invaluable contribution to the handloom sector. Entry is free.
