Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), Department of Space, Government of India and JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for executing a student satellite project, named JNANAM (JSS Nanosatellite for Applications in Medicine).
The MoU covers support from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and its various centres for the students and faculty of JSS STU in design, realisation, testing of JNANAM cubesat and post-launch support.
The MoU also enables JSS STU to access various ISRO facilities on non-exclusive basis for satellite design, testing and seeking post launch support for the in-orbit satellite. The satellite is planned to be launched in the first quarter of next year.
JNANAM is a unique student satellite project from institutions under JSS Mahavidyapeetha that aims to conduct spectroscopy experiment in space to study the effects of microgravity and space radiations on drug samples, according to a press release.
