JSS ties up with Indian Rubber Institute to set up Centre of Excellence

Mysore/Mysuru: As per Government of India’s Automotive Mission Plan, by 2026, India will be the third largest automobile manufacturer globally, 12 percent of GDP will be from automobile sector and will generate around 65 million employment.

JSS Science and Technology University (JSS STU), Mysuru, which is in the forefront in bridging the gap between industry and institution, has collaborated with Indian Rubber Institute (IRI) to set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at their campus.

IRI is a professional body of rubber technologists, engineers, scientists, academicians and other professionals and organisations associated with the rubber and allied industry in India. JSS Mahavidyapeetha has provided 10,000 sq.ft. land on a long term lease to set up this CoE which will serve as a national referral hub to disseminate knowledge in all aspects of rubber science and technology. 

Joint research, seminars, workshops, publications will be the key area of focus. This Centre will facilitate employment and encourage students to become entrepreneurs, who in turn would generate further employment and contribute to MSME segments.

A formal MoU was signed and exchanged between Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha and Dr. R. Mukhopadhyay, Chairman, Governing Council, IRI, Mysuru recently in the presence of Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and other dignitaries.
