Mysuru:“Catholic Churches have a tradition of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ every 25 years. Likewise, Jubilee 2025 will be launched in Mysore Diocese on Dec. 29,” said Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Mysore Archbishop Emeritus Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras.
Disclosing this to media persons, Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras said that Pope Francis has declared 2025 as the Jubilee Year, during which various programmes will be held till Jan. 6, 2026, under the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope.’
“A special Cross will be carried in a procession to all Churches coming under the diocese. It will be placed at St. Philomena’s Church at the end of year-long celebration, as a Memorial of the Jubilee Year. It is believed that this Cross will provide protection to the community. During this Holy Year, efforts will be made to help the poor, the sick and the helpless,” Dr. Bernard Moras added.
The Jubilee 2025 will be inaugurated on Dec. 29 at 4 pm at Our Lady of the Poor Church on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road in Bannimantap at 4 pm and the special 8 ft. tall Cross, made for the occasion, will be taken in a procession at 4.30 pm to St. Philomena’s Church where it will be placed. Later, a mass prayer will be held followed by a special mass at 6 pm, covering the dioceses of Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts, Dr. Moras informed.
A Committee has been formed, to organise spiritual and social activities in all Churches, institutions and district headquarters, under the diocese. The programmes will be conducted under the guidance of the Apostolic Administrator.
