Bengaluru: Close on the heels of CBI team beginning a detailed investigation into the alleged suicide of Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy, Justice (retired) K.S. Keshava Narayana Judicial Commission that was formed by the State government to probe the case interrogated Kodagu Superintendent of Police P. Rajendra Prasad in Madikeri on Monday.

SP FUMBLES: Sources said that Rajendra Prasad was grilled for four hours by the one-man Commission and the SP was found fumbling for answers on the suicide and the Police investigation that followed later. The Commission’s interrogation comes following the collection of crucial evidence. The Commission questioned the SP if it was a serious case. To this, the SP replied that he got to know about Ganapathy’s death at 8.30 pm on July 7, 2016 and arrangements were made to shift the body after inquest.

Justice Keshava Narayana questioned the SP considering the seriousness of the case, why forensic experts were not summoned. He told the SP that when forensic experts were available in Mangaluru and Bengaluru why their services were not requested.

He also questioned why fingerprints on the doors of the lodge room where the Police officer was found dead were not collected as additional evidence along with fingerprints on the ceiling fan, Ganapathy’s pistol and his belt.

Taken aback by the intensive questioning, SP Rajendra Prasad told the Commission that it was a clear case of suicide as Ganapathy’s clothes were not crumpled. The SP supported his theory with the statements of Ganapathy’s father and brother at it was a suicide case as   Ganapathy was depressed.

Justice Keshava Narayana then questioned the SP that if the clothes were not crumpled, how can one conclude that it is a suicide case. He told the SP that there were chances of someone poisoning Dy.SP Ganapathy. Sources said that the SP told the Commission that all formalities and procedures were followed as per law by the Investigating Officer.
