K.R. Nagar: K.R. Nagar Police have rescued a youth within 24 hours of being kidnapped by a gang of five persons on Bazar Street here on Friday afternoon.

The youth, who was kidnapped, has been identified as 28-year-old Afsar Pasha, son of late Mallik Pasha and Fathima, residents of Muslim Block in K.R. Nagar, while the alleged kidnapper has been identified as Ahmed of Bengaluru.

Afsar was kidnapped when he had gone to buy clothes along with his relative Nadeem Khan and the incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed at a jewellery store on Bazar Street.

Following the kidnap, Afsar’s mother Fathima and his (Afsar) wife had approached SP Ravi D. Channannavar, who had assured her son’s safe return and had instructed K.R. Nagar Police to register a case and investigate. Police, who registered a case, came to know that Afsar has been taken to Bengaluru and a team of Police left for Bengaluru, where they traced Afsar through his mobile phone location and rescued him besides arresting three persons yesterday.

It is learnt that Ahmed had asked Afsar to help him find a treasure, which the latter had declined following which Ahmed was harassing him and allegedly kidnapped him for the same.
