Mysore/Mysuru: K.S. Prakash was elected as the President of Mysuru city Unit of Akhila Bharat Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha, in the elections held yesterday.
K.S. Prakash, who secured 1,088 votes, defeated his rivals S.R. Shivakumar (178 votes) and S. Shivakumar (74 votes) in the polls held yesterday at Hardwicke High School premises on JLB Road here.
Only 1,375 out of the 3,137 voters had cast their votes in the elections that was held from 8 am to 4 pm, recording a poll percentage of 43 percent. The polls were also held for election of 20 Directors, for which 28 candidates contested and as well as for 10 seats of Women Directors.

Those who were elected as Directors are: H.N. Kishore Kumar (980 votes), P.G. Mahadevaswamy (979), K.V. Gowrishankaraswamy (964), S.M. Suresh (961), M.S. Arun (956), B.R. Shivakumar (944), M. Nagendramurthy (937), Pratidhwani Prasad (933), N. Mahesh (932), N. Srikantamurthy (926), G.M. Panchakshari (910), P. Gowrishankarswamy (901), C.R. Virupaksha (892), J.P. Ningaraju (888), T.R. Harishkumar (859), B.C. Shadakshariswamy (830), G.C. Suresh (809), Shivamurthy (808), P.S. Srikantaswamy (808) and Shashikiran (803).
Ten Women Directors elected unopposed are: B.S. Usha, Chandrakala, B.P. Padmavathi, M.C. Vanajakshi, A.G. Bhavani, M.S. Bharathi, M.S. Sushmitha, D. Shanta, T. Shilpa and Shivamma. S. Jagadamba & Pushpa Samshi, who were also in the fray earlier, withdrew their candidature.
Speaking after getting elected as the Mysuru City President, K.S. Prakash said that he was fully confident of victory. Outlining his plans, Prakash said that funds will be raised for construction of Basava Bhavan on Dr. Rajkumar Road, intensification of door-to-door membership drive of the community, presentation of Pratibha Puraskar to meritorious children, organisation of job fairs and skill development programmes, among other initiatives.
Elected Mysuru Taluk President
Kaavibasappa of Eeranakoppal was elected as Mysuru Taluk President of Akhila Bharat Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha in the polls held at Nataraja Kalyanamantapa in Agrahara here yesterday.
Kaavibasappa, who secured 1,045 votes, was declared elected as the Mysuru Taluk President of the Mahasabha. Also, 7 Women Directors were elected unopposed for Mysuru taluk unit — Kamalakshi, Netravathi, G.V. Bharathi, Lalitha, S. Savitha, Sunitha and Shwetharani.
