‘Kaanoonu Saksharata Ratha’: Legal literacy vehicle flagged off

District Principal and Sessions Judge S.K. Vantigodi flagged off the ‘Kanoonu Saksharatha Ratha’ at the City Law Courts Complex yesterday as others look on.

Mysuru: District Principal and Sessions Judge S.K. Vantigodi flagged off the ‘Kanoonu Saksharatha Ratha,’ organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Bar Association, at the City Law Courts Complex here yesterday.

Speaking after inaugurating, Vantigodi, who is also the Chairperson of DLSA, said that this was a legal literacy programme and its main aim was to sensitise the public and students on law and to carry out its aims and objectives. 

During the event that will go on till July 1, lawyers who will be a part of the ‘Ratha’ will sensitise on the objectives of DLSA, Fundamental Rights and Duties of Citizens, Motor Vehicle Act, Hindu Inheritance Act, Act on Prevention of Atrocities against Women, POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, Police Complaints Authority, Lok Adalat, Mediation Centre, Permanent Janatha Courts etc., he said.

The Ratha first reached the MMK&SDM Women’s College and it will visit various places till July 1. June 30: BCM hostel in Kuvempunagar at 10.30 am and at Girls Hostel, Bogadi at 12.30 pm; July 1: Vidyavardhaka Law College at 10.30 am; JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram at 12.30 pm and Belavadi GP Office at 5 pm.

DLSA Member-Secretary B.P. Devamane, Advocate S. Anand Kumar and others were present.
