‘Kadiru,’ a compilation of late Manjula’s writings released

April 21, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru:  Senior writer Dr. Baraguru Ramachandrappa released the book ‘Kadiru,’ a compilation of late writer Manjula’s writings at EMRC auditorium in Manasagangothri here recently.

Speaking after releasing the book, Dr. Ramachandrappa hailed late writer Manjula’s participation in several agitations relating to public interest.

“We often make excuses for our inability to do certain things. Several Professors cite various excuses for their non-participation in Movements. If we have the commitment to participate and concern for the good of the society, it is possible to take active part in pro-society agitations.                                                          Late Manjula actively participated in several pro-society Movements despite problems. Manjula had a hunger for knowledge and had studied all facets of literature,” he said.

Stating that he does not believe in the saying ‘Behind every successful man, there is a woman,’ the senior writer opined, instead of saying ‘behind,’ we can say ‘along with.’

“Great men like Bhagawan Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi though born in upper strata of the society  worked for the welfare of the lower strata communities of the society. Dr. Ambedkar propagated that we should consciously move towards upper castes category. Late Manjula too had the same opinion,” he recalled.

Describing death as a dictator who can never be defeated, he said we all need to surrender to him one day or the other. “But I never thought writer Manjula will become a victim of this dictator so early,” he regretted.

Dr. Somashekar, Professor, Dr. B.R .Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre, University of Mysore, gave a lecture on ‘Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts on women.’
