Mandya: A minor girl, whose lover was allegedly murdered by her family members five months ago, has ended her life by hanging self on Tuesday.

Following the murder of the minor lover boy, the Police had arrested the girl’s parents and had sent them to jail and the minor girl was housed at the Balamandira, located on the 14th Cross in V.V. Nagar at Kallahalli. It is learnt that the girl was depressed following the murder of her lover following which she hanged herself from the toilet window of the Balamandira using her veil at about 12 noon on Tuesday.

Details: The minors, residents of Kallahalli, were in love and the boy after failing in his SSLC exams had joined a garments shop for work. As their relationship had come to light, both the families had fought over the issue.

On Apr. 14 night, the girl, who called her lover over the phone, had asked him to come to the house. But when the boy came to the house, the girl’s family members numbering more than 10 people brutally assaulted the boy and the neighbours, who heard the commotion from the house, had informed the boy’s family members about it.

It is accused that though the boy’s parents, who had rushed to the girl’s house, pleaded with the girl’s parents to let go their son, the assault on the boy did not stop. The boy, who was brutally assaulted, had sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the District Hospital where he was provided first-aid and was later admitted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru, where he succumbed to injuries. Following the case being registered, the Police had arrested 17 persons including the girl’s parents.
