Heads of schools, colleges to select best essays and submit them to Information & Public Relations Department before Sept. 26
Mysore/Mysuru: As part of 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Information and Public Relations Department has organised an essay writing competition in Kannada for the students of High Schools, PU Colleges and Under Graduate/ Post Graduate Colleges, in three categories to inspire them on Gandhiji’s life, freedom struggle, non-violence, experiments made for eradication of untouchability.
Winners at the district-level will get cash prizes in the order of Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000, and Rs. 1,000 in each category and those at the State level will get Rs. 31,000, Rs. 21,000 and Rs. 11,000.
Students under all the above mentioned categories have to submit the essays with a copy of their identity card and contact details to heads of their institutions. The heads of all Schools and Colleges should select the best of three essays and submit them to the district Information and Public Relations Department before Sept. 26.
District Information Officers will select the best three essays from all institutions and send them to the Office of Commissioner, Department of Information and Public Relations, before Sept. 29. The best three essays in each category will be awarded State-level prizes.
The topics for High School section are: Nanageke Gandhiji Ishtavaguttare or Nanna Badukinalli Gandhiji Tattvagalannu Alavadisikolluva Bage or Gandhijiyavara Tattvagalinda Desha Kattuva Bage. The word limit is 900 on any one topic.
PU section topics: Deshada Kalankavada Asprushyate Nivarisuvallina Gandhijiyavara Prayogagalu or Gandhijiyavarannu Jagattu Grahisida Reeti or Nanna Badukinalli Gandhiji Tattvagalannu Alavadisikolluva Bage, with the words not exceeding 1,500 on any one topic.
Under Graduate and Post Graduate topics: Desha Nirmanadalli Gandhijiyavara Jatyateeta Niluvugalu or Gandhijiyavara Dharmika Sahishnute Chintane – Swatantrya Mattu Samanateya Parikalpanegalu or Nanna Badukinalli Gandhi Tattvagalannu Alavadisikolluva Bage or Gandhijiyavaru Kanda Swarajya Mattu Arthika Chintanegalu. The words must not exceed 2,000 on any one topic.
Instructions for essay writing: The essays should either be handwritten or typed in Nudi/ Unicode software and references should be made at the end of the essay. The name of essay writer and address should be mentioned. Essays should be submitted to District Information Officer only through the respective School and College heads.
Essays should not have been published anywhere and the Department of Information and Public Relations reserves the right to publish the select essays.
