Kannada SahityaParishat elections deferred

With the State witnessing a spike in COVID cases, the Government on Monday deferred the elections to Kannada SahityaParishat, which was scheduled to take place on May 9.The Joint Secretary of Co-operation Department M. Venkataswamy, in an order issued on Monday, said that due to the raging pandemic, the elections to the State Kannada SahityaParishat and to the District SahityaParishats, which was scheduled to take place onMay 9, has been deferred until further orders. The poll process will be resumed from where it has stopped at the point of deferment, after a fresh schedule is announced at a later date.

The filing of nominations for State and District Kannada SahityaParishats had taken place from Mar.29 to Apr.7 and the candidates were allowed to withdraw their nominations till Apr.12. The final list of candidates, who remained in the fray, was published at the office of the respective electoral officers.
