Karnatak Mandolin recital at Bhagini Raaga Sourabha

Mysore/Mysuru: BSS Vidyodaya and RAAGA Music Academy, Mysuru, in association with Samskara Bharathi, will present ‘Bhagini Raaga Sourabha,’ an evening of resplendent music, featuring a grand mandolin concert by the young Vid. Rakshith Prasad at BSS Vidyodaya in Krishnamurthypuram tomorrow (Feb. 21) at 6 pm. He will be accompanied by Vid. Aniruddha Bharadwaj on violin, Vid. K.R. Gurudutt on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on ghata.

Rakshith began his training under Vid. A.V. Dattatreya in Mysuru, who laid his foundation in classical music. He later received advanced guidance from the legendary late Vid. Mandolin U. Srinivas, whose pioneering work established the electric mandolin as a respected instrument in Karnatak music.

He currently continues his advanced training under Vid. Dr. Mysore M. Manjunath, focusing on manodharma, raga development and concert aesthetics.

He has performed at several noted Sabhas including Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Sree Ramaseva Mandali (Bengaluru and Mysuru), IISc,  RK Srikantan Trust, Saamagaana Sangeetha Sabha, JSS Sangeetha Sabha, Ganabharathi, Nadabrahma Sabha, Sri Kartikeya Gana Sabha (Hyderabad), GCMA (Chennai), Sunada Ganasudha (Hubballi), Hamsadhwani Cultural Academy (California) and BITS Pilani, among others.

He is a recipient of the Visesha Prathibha Puraskaram from Sri Kartikeya Gana Sabha, Hyderabad and the Pratibhakankshi Award from Sree Ramaseva Mandali, Bengaluru.
