Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi, Mysuru, has organised a Karnatak vocal recital by Dr. H.G. Amrutha Varshini at its premises in Kuvempunagar on Dec. 5 at 6 pm. She will be accompanied by Vidu. Ranjani Venkatesh on mridanga and Vid. Amogh Nadadur on violin.

Profile: Dr. H.G. Amrutha Varshini is a prominent Karnatak vocalist and academician from Karnataka.
She is a senior disciple of Sangeetha Kalacharya Vidu. Seetha Rajan of Chennai, who was a direct disciple of the Karnatak music doyen Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer. She is known for her chaste, traditional style of music with emphasis on Raga and Pada Bhava.
She holds a Doctorate and has served as a Guest Faculty in the Department of Performing Arts at Bangalore University. She is also proficient in playing veena. She has performed in many prestigious Sabhas both in India and the UK.
Along with fellow disciples, she established ‘Matrubrundam,’ a music centre in Bengaluru, dedicated to training mothers who wish to pursue their musical aspirations.
Dr. Amrutha Varshini is a recipient of multiple prizes and awards, including the UGC Junior Research Fellowship.
