Karnataka devotees robbed of gold chains at Ayodhya

Cops nab gang of 16 robbers; 11 gold chains, 2 SUVs worth Rs. 21 lakh recovered

Ayodhya: Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested a gang of 16 robbers who had robbed gold chains from Karnataka devotees and have recovered 11 gold chains and 2 SUVs all worth Rs. 21 lakh from them.

The gang, in the guise of tourists, used to rob devotees arriving at Sri Ram Temple at Ayodhya. Police said that the gang was not only active in Ayodhya but used to target devotees in Varnasi  and Mathura. The gang members are said to be from various districts in Bihar.

On Feb. 10, the gang had robbed gold chains of devotees from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu at Ayodhya, following which a complaint was lodged at the jurisdictional Police Station.
