Mission heads, stakeholders to take part in virtual event on July 17
Mysore/Mysuru: The Office of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), which has the objective of increasing digital economy contribution to Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to 30 percent, was inaugurated in Bengaluru in February this year. The KDEM (Beyond Bangalore) Mysuru Cluster will be launched in Mysuru on Saturday, July 17.
Mysuru is gearing up to be the preferred destination for businesses across several industry verticals. KDEM is an initiative sponsored by the Government of Karnataka that will help Mysuru accelerate and position as an alternative destination for Technology and Innovation Beyond Bangalore
As the first step, the Government has put together an advisory committee comprising business leaders Pavan Ranga, Director, NR Group and CEO Rangsons, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, MD & CEO, Lahari, Sanjay Srinivasmurthy, Managing Director, Silicon Road Ideation Labs, Krishnadas Unni, Executive Director – Client Innovation, IBM from Mysuru to head the KDEM Mysuru Cluster-specific activities. KDEM Mysuru Cluster is also supported by TiE Mysuru and K-Tech.
At the virtual session on July 17, Dr. E.V. Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister and Additional Chief Secretary to Government – Department of Electronics ITBT and S&T, B.V. Naidu, Chairman, KDEM and Mysuru Cluster will deliberate on business strategy in Mysuru.
The session will cover a few important topics such as “objectives and partnerships”, “accelerating growth”, “Beyond Bangalore initiative”, “brief about KDEM and the progress so far”, and “Mysuru launch strategy.”
Speaking about the initiative, Naidu said, “KDEM will act as a knowledge bridge between industry and Government by helping and supporting in the implementation of policies promoting industries.
Pavan Ranga said that there is a determination towards building Karnataka as a brand and enhancing leadership position across segments. “As Bengaluru has been established as an IT Hub, we would like to make Mysuru the next destination for global business and boost our State economy and contribute to the nation’s growth,” he said.
“KDEM- Beyond Bengaluru Chapter will help position Karnataka well with technology-sector-specific investment reports. With this relaunch, the core committee will focus on skilling 2 million people in new emerging technologies,” he added.
Sanjay Srinivasmurthy said that the launch of the KDEM Mysuru Cluster will result in increased demand from the IT sector in Mysuru and will help in bringing more investment and talent pool.
