Nonagenarian votes

There was brisk polling in J.P. Nagar, a part of KR Constituency this morning unlike in other areas. Chikkamma, 96, accompanied by her granddaughter, came to vote in JSS Public School booth. Asked how she still retained her enthusiasm to vote, she replied, “I have voted in all the elections so far and I did not want to waste my vote when I know that it counts.” A Good Samaritan Santosh arranged for an autorickshaw to take her back home. Her granddaughter, however, is still not eligible to vote.

Meanwhile, an octogenarian Shivananjamma, 85, cast her vote and said that she brought her granddaughter along with her to educate her about voting, rights and responsibilities. 75-year-old Radhamani came along with her family members to cast her vote at the Pink Booth in Akkana Balaga and returned in the same auto.

Minor clash

There was a minor clash between two groups at Maharshi Public School in Vishweshwaranagar. However, the  situation was brought to control in no time.

Voters’ names missing

An agitated voter Asha Kiran called up Star of Mysore this morning to share her anguish that she was not able to cast her vote even though she had registered her name during the special voter drive ‘Minchina Nondani’ on April 9. She had even carried the acknowledgment along with the ID card to the booth.

“I along with my family members had gone to Sunanda Academy where the polling booths 117 and 118 are located. To my disappointment none of our names were in the list. When I asked the Returning Office, she flatly refused to even check the list and instead told me that another person Asha Kiran had already cast the vote,” she said.

According to her there are many people in Yadavagiri whose names have been missing from the voters list and most of them had to return disappointed.
