JSS Sangeetha Sabha Trust to confer ‘Sangeetha Vidyanidhi’ title on the Mysuru-based musicologist
Mysore/Mysuru: The JSS Sangeetha Sabha Trust, Mysuru, has unanimously elected Vid. V. Nanjundaswamy, the well-known Musicologist of Mysuru as the President of 27th National-level Music Conference to be held from Dec. 2 to 6 at Navajyothi auditorium, JSS Women’s College, Saraswathipuram.
Vid. Nanjundaswamy will conduct the deliberations of the Conference on all five days. He will be awarded ‘Sangeetha Vidyanidhi’ on Dec. 6 at the valedictory function.
Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Vid. Nanjundaswamy expressed his happiness on being unanimously elected as the President of 27th JSS Music Conference and for ‘Sangeetha Vidyanidhi’ title.

Vidwan V. Nanjundaswamy is well-known for his creative innovations in musical features and musicology. He has directed, coordinated, produced and narrated more than 100 musical features in English and Kannada in various cultural sabhas, organisations, schools and colleges, All India Radio, Doordarshan all over India and abroad.
He is an expert in Indian Yogic Science. Through this knowledge, he has delivered a number of lectures on stress management, values of life, management skills, behavioural sciences, personality management, etc. in various organisations.
He plays on instrument veena with vocal and teaches Sanskrit shlokas (hymns) to many and adept in interpreting the philosophical and psychological aspects of those compositions scientifically by giving day-to-day life examples. He is a very popular psychological counsellor too.
Vid. Nanjundaswamy is a multifaceted person, very good orator, widely travelled and conducted quiz on various subjects. For persons pursuing higher studies for doctoral thesis and fellowship, he has given special guidance on Srividya Shreechakra, Dance etc.
Vid. Nanjundaswamy’s special worldwide notable contributions for ever is uploading 2,010 videos on more than 756 subjects through ‘YouTube – V Nanjundaswamy’ by playing on veena-vocal and scientific explanations on serially numbered subject headings.
Another notable feature of Vid. Nanjundaswamy is ‘He is an Amazon Scholar,’ has written 27 e-books apart form 30 paperback books on Music-Dance-Philosophy both in English and Kannada which is available in Google.
Vid. Nanjundaswamy is credited for publishing all the 94 kritis with meaning both in Kannada and English released by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar of Mysore royal family. In 21 episodes, AIR has broadcast his musical feature on 94 kritis of J.C. Wadiyar.
Vid. Nanjundaswamy has received many titles/ honours from across India and abroad. Some of them are: ‘Karnataka Kalashree’, Mysore University Golden Jublee – T. Chowdiah Award for his book titled ‘Eesabeku iddu jaisabeku’, ‘Shastra Koustubha’, ‘Sangeetha Vidyavaaridhi’, ‘Lalitha Kalasuma’, ‘Kaladeepthi’, ‘Sangeetha Sahitya Kalabhushana’, many Lifetime Achievement Awards, etc.
Vid. Nanjundaswamy, aged 78 years, has B.Com, CAIIB to his credit and studied Sanskrit up to Kavya and took VRS from SBM and doing yeoman service in the field of Music-Dance-Yoga-Writing Books-Human Psychology etc.
Vid. Nanjundaswamy’s wife Prof. H.S. Umadevi is highly qualified and retired after 41 years of service as a Chief Librarian in JSS Institutions and is doing service to humanity by assisting Vid. Nanjundaswamy in all his musical and philosophical pursuits.
