Jagadish of Bengaluru and Shree Krishna Pranama of Dakshina Kannada with 5.5 points from six rounds share the lead in the Karnataka State U-17 Open Chess Championship 2018, conducted by the Mysore Chess Centre at Raghavendraswamy Mutt premises in Krishnamurthypuram here yesterday.
Five players — N. Rakesh (Mandya), Shreyash A. Kulkarni (Bengaluru), Chirag Mudraje (DK), M. Shivanth (Mysuru) and S. Abhi Nayak (Mysuru) — are tied with five points each from six rounds and are placed from third to seventh in the rankings.
Mysuru lads — Arnav Muralidhar (4.5 points-12th), C. Ajay (4 points-17th), R. Raju Prasad (Nanjangud-4 points-18th), S. Vishwajit (Mysuru-4 points-19th), R. Ashutosh Srivatsa (Mysuru-4 points-21st), S. Sandeep (4 points-22nd) and P. Manish Kumar (4 points-23rd) are also faring well in the Championships which will conclude today.
Prasiddhi Bhat leads
In the U-17 Girls section, Mysuru girl Prasiddhi Bhat emerged as the sole leader with six points from six rounds.
Two players Dhnaya Corry (Bengaluru) and Shriya R. Revankar (Dharwad) have secured five points and are placed second and third respectively in the rankings. S. Meghana (Mandya), Swara Lakshmi S. Nair (Bengaluru) and Tanisha Shital Gotade (Dharwad) have secured 4.5 points and are placed from fourth to sixth in the rankings.
Mysuru girls, Hemadri Sathish (4 points-7th), Vidhya Sridhar (4 points-9th), Dhatri Umesh (4 points-10th), K.R. Sara (4 points-17th) and Sharadhi Shastry (3.5 points-19th), K. Deeksha (3 points-29th) and Yashika R. Joshi (3 points-30th), are faring well in the tourney.
