Sanjana Raghunath of Bengaluru with eight points from nine rounds won the Karnataka State U-13 Girls Chess title in the Tournament conducted by Nalanda Chess Academy, Shivamogga, yesterday.
Mysuru girl Hemadri Sathish with 7.5 points secured the second place and was followed by 10 players with 6.5 points each and were placed from third to 12th in the rankings.
Mysuru’s Prasiddhi Bhat (6.5 points – 8th place), S. Meghana (Mandya – 6.5 – 9th), P. Dhanyashree (Hassan – 5.5 – 20th), A.N. Shefali (Mandya – 5.5 – 24th), M.H. Yadvithi (Mandya – 5.5 – 28th), Sharadhi Shastry (Mysuru – 5 – 29th), Dhatri Umesh (Mysuru – 5 – 30th), Vindya Sridhar (Mysuru – 5 – 33rd), V. Deeksha (4.5), K.R. Sara (4.5) and K. Deeksha (4) fared well.
In the Open U-13 section, Samith Reddy, Arhan Chethan Anand and Tejas Suresh Kumar of Bengaluru tied with 7.5 points from nine rounds, but on the basis of his better tie-break score, Samith Reddy won the title. Arhan and Tejas finished second and third respectively.
Mysuru lad S. Vishwajith (6 points – 28th), M.G. Prameeth (6 – 31st), P. Karthik (5.5 – 42nd), N.C. Gambhir (5 – 64th), B. Nimish Raj (5 – 81st), M.S. Sujith (5 – 85th) and P. Ishanth (4.5 – 92nd) fared well.
