Kata wrestling in Nanjangud

Kata traditional wrestling competition, comprising 35 pairs, has been organised at Vidyavardhaka College Grounds in Nanjangud tomorrow (Aug.4), said Tournament organiser Raju, here on Friday.

Addressing media persons at Pathrakartara Bhavan here, he said that the Tournament was being organised to mark the birthday celebrations of social worker and Advocate S. Umesh.

MLA Harshavardhan will inaugurate the Tournament. MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad, MLAs N. Mahesh, Niranjan Kumar and Anil Chikkamadu, former Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, former Mayor Purushotham, Karnataka Exhibition Authority former Chairman Abdul Aziz and others will be present.

The Tournament will feature Pahilwan Ravi of Rammanahalli Veerabhadswamy Garadi taking on Pahilwan Mahesh of Haveri in mar-peet wresting.

Pahilwan Prasanna of 10 Janara Garadi in Sriramapura-Nanjangud will take on Pahilwan Althaf of Kanakapura.

The winners of mar-peet wrestling will be awarded the title ‘Nanjangud Kesari.’
