‘Keep close watch on suspicious movements and activities’

Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra holds poll-related meeting with officials

Mysore/Mysuru: As countdown for Assembly elections has begun, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K.V. Rajendra has directed officials to keep a watch on suspicious movements and activities of strangers.

Speaking after presiding over a meeting at his Office here this morning, Dr. Rajendra, who is also the District Electoral Officer, directed the officials to set up surveillance centres at Bus Stands, Railway Station and other busy public joints.

Bus stands

He directed the KSRTC officials to remove posters and paintings on buses displaying   Government programmes and advertisements. He also asked them to set up check-posts at City Bus stand and Sub-urban Bus Stand in order to keep vigil on suspicious persons.

The KSRTC officials must tutor the Drivers and Conductors on keeping a tab on any suspicious activities or movements.

Railway Stations

Coming to the vigil at Railway Stations, the DC said that Station officials must be extra alert during departure and arrival of trains coming from different destinations. Also, the officials must have a round-the-clock surveillance mechanism in place at the Railway Stations, which is visited by lakhs of passengers from across the country.

Mysore Airport

Referring to vigilance at Mysore Airport at Mandakalli, the DC said that flying squad must be deployed at the Airport in order to keep a close watch on inbound and outbound fliers.

Continuing, the DC said that those who are engaged in poll duties cannot stay away from casting their votes. Stressing on the need for ensuring maximum participation in the democratic electoral process, he said that all Government servants and their family members must not miss out on voting for any reason and also to ensure cent percent voting in all booths.

MCC Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, ZP CEO K.M.Gayathri, Additional DC Kavita Rajaram, Assistant Commissioner Kamala Bai and other officials were present.
