Kempegowda Jayanti celebration on June 27

Mysuru: Vokkaliga Associations in the District have decided to celebrate Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti in a grand manner along with the District Administration at Kalamandira here on June 27. 

This was decided at a meeting held under the leadership of State Vokkaligara Sangha and Mysuru District Vokkaligara Sangha at Jaladarshini Guest House in city recently. 

Vokkaliga Associations had earlier decided to celebrate the Jayanti on a different date by inviting Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. But as Shivakumar was preoccupied with other engagements across the State, the meeting decided to celebrate the Jayanti in association with the District Administration. 

Addressing the meeting, Chamaraja MLA K. Harishgowda said that CM Shivakumar would be felicitated at an exclusive event later. Kempegowda Jayanti should be celebrated in an apolitical and highly successful manner with the participation of all sections of society, he said adding that he would make efforts for getting Government                                                 help in this regard. 

City BJP President L. Nagendra and Kempegowda Jayantyotsava Samiti President P. Prashanth Gowda too spoke. 

As many as 8 Committees  were formed: Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Jayanti Mahotsava Committee headed by Prashanth Gowda, a former Corporator; Publicity Committee headed by R. Rakesh Gowda; City Committee  headed by Chetan Vishakantegowda; Rural Committee headed by Hinkal Rajkumar; Procession Committee headed by retired Police Officer Marigowda; Pratibha Puraskar Committee headed by former Corporator Prema Shankaregowda; Felicitation of Achievers Committee headed by B.P. Boregowda and Food Committee headed by K.G. Koppal Rajanna. 

State Vokkaligara Sangha Treasurer and former MCC Corporator K.V. Sridhar, Mysuru-Chamarajanagar District Vokkaligara Sangha President M. Mariswamy, Hon. President  Alathur Jayaram, Vice-President Ravikumar (Rajakiya), General Secretary M.E. Chetan, community leaders Bannur Mahesh, Vontikoppal Gururaj, Ravi, B.P. Boregowda, Girish Gowda, G.Kumar Gowda, M. Susheela Nanjappa, Umesh, Beedanahalli Satish Gowda, Negilayogi Ravikumar, Mohan Kumar Gowda, Lakshmidevi, Rakesh Gowda, Krishnegowda, K.G. Koppal Rajanna, J.P. Nagar Krishna, retired Police Officer Marigowda and others were present.
