BBA graduate from Thrissur, Moosa wants to create awareness among people on fuel, plastic

Mysore/Mysuru: Thirty-five-year-old Moosa has started walking from Kerala to Kathmandu (Nepal) on a mission to create awareness among people on usage of petrol, diesel and plastic. He passed through Mysuru yesterday.

The BBA graduate from Thrissur in Kerala, he started from his home town five days ago, and has arrived in Mysuru city yesterday. Moosa walks around 30-35 km daily. He starts walking at 6 am and continues till evening. “I am planning to go to Nepal via Bengaluru,” he told SOM.

People must vow to save little quantity of fuel daily. The menace of plastic has become uncontrollable posing a major problem for the authorities concerned in its disposal. It is high time the citizens must give impetus on the minimal use of plastic in their daily routine. The use of vehicles even for a short distance has resulted rise in fuel prices. This is also impacting on the economy as well as polluting nature. “On my way, I will meet people especially youths at tea shops or other places and appeal them to protect environment by planting trees.”

Moosa says he believes in contributing something for the society which has given everything for him. His aim is to create social awakening among people. His purpose of walking thousands of kilometres will be fruitful even if it inspires one or two persons. “At night, I sleep in a tent which I am carrying in by backpack and hit the road again the next day after completing the morning chorus,” he added.

Dr. R. Seetha, Head, Department of Tamil, St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru, who noticed Moosa walking near Sri Rama Mandira on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road in city last evening with a backpack pinned with a note stating ‘Kerala to Nepal — Cross Country Walk,’ stopped by and wished him a successful journey.
