Yaduveer ascends Golden Throne amidst rituals at Mysore Palace
Mysuru: The Khas Durbar (Private Durbar), which marks the beginning of Sharannavaratri celebrations of Mysore Royal Family, began with titular head of Mysore Royal Family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar ascending the Golden Throne at the Durbar Hall in Mysore Palace this morning.
The puja rituals at the Mysore Palace began as early as 6.12 am with the traditional ‘Yenne Shastra’ (Oil Bath) and fixing of Lion head to the Golden Throne. Following this, kankana was tied to Yaduveer Wadiyar at Chamundi Thotti and to Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar at Vani Vilas Puja Room.

After kankana rituals, Pattada Nishane Aane (Royal Lead Elephant) Ekalavya, Pattada Aane (Royal Elephant) Srikanta, Palace Elephants Chanchala and Preethi, Royal Cow, Royal Camel and Royal Horse were brought from Kodi Someshwara Temple along with Kalasha filled with scared water to the Savari Thotti where the Kalasha was received by the Palace priests for the Puja rituals.

Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar performing paada puja to Yaduveer Wadiyar at Kannadi Thotti in Mysore Palace this morning in the presence of their sons Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Waidyar and Yugadhyaksh Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Pramoda Devi Wadiyar.
Later, Yaduveer Wadiyar, amidst chanting of bahuparaks by hogalu battaru, kattigeyavaru, jopadaru, deevatigeyavaru, arrived at Durbar Hall from Savari Thotti between 11.45 am and 12.05 pm in the auspicious Dhanur Lagna, following which various Private Durbar puja rituals including the Kalasha puja were performed.
On completion of the puja rituals, Yaduveer Wadiyar ascended the Golden Throne between 1.40 pm and 2.05 pm with Mysore Kingdom Anthem ‘Kayou Shri Gowri’ being played by Mysuru Police Band at the background.

Following the completion of the anthem, Yaduveer Wadiyar sat on Golden Throne to officially mark the commencement of Khas Durbar (Private Durbar).
After Yaduveer ascending the throne, priests from Chamundi Hill, Melukote, Srirangapatna, Nanjangud, Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple and priests from all 23 temples inside Mysore Palace premises offered teertha and prasadam to Yaduveer Wadiyar.

‘Drusti’ was also taken to clear negative or envious energy while Yaduveer sat on the Golden Throne. Later, Yaduveer was taken to Savari Thotti where Yaduveer sat on Bhadrasana. Following this, paada puja was performed to Yaduveer by Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar at Kannadi Thotti in the presence of Pramoda Devi Waidyar and her grandsons Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar and Yugadhyaksh Krishnaraja Wadiyar and a handful of Royal Family invitees marking the end Day-1 morning rituals.
Tight Police Security
Meanwhile, the Mysuru City Police had provided tight security at Palace this morning. Entry to visitors was banned to the Palace while the rituals of Khas Durbar were being performed.
