KIA revokes parking fee for cabs

May 21, 2024

Bengaluru:  A day after it received flak from Cab drivers and passengers alike for levying a hefty ‘Stay and Overstay’ charge at the arrival lounge of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) this morning, temporarily revoked the parking fee.

The fee was introduced on May 20 without prior notice.

According to a notice displayed in the KIA premises, all commercial vehicles (Yellow Board) including cabs, must pay an entry fee of Rs.150 for up to 7 minutes and Rs. 300 beyond that.

But following adverse reaction from cab operators and passengers, the KIA today temporarily  revoked its decision to collect the free from private commercial vehicles entering the arrival area ( pick up lanes at Terminals 1 and 2) of KIA.

A KIA source said “We are reviewing the parking fee internally. The new fee will be announced after discussion with the stakeholders”.

The move to introduce the fee was aimed at security enhancement and prevention of haphazard parking of vehicles, the sources added.
