KiMA awards for city musicians

Mysuru: The song ‘Maralibaaradurige Ninna Payana’ recorded for ‘Bhavana’ audio tape of Dr. N.K. Lolakshi, Assistant Professor, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, has bagged Kannada International Music Academy (KiMA) Awards in two categories.

While Dr. N.K. Lolakshi has been adjudged Best Lyricist (Non Film Music), Nagesh Kandegala, Director of Enlight Creations, Mysuru, has been awarded Best Composer (Non Film Music) for the same song.

Playback singer Fayaz Khan has lent his voice for the song.

The awards were conferred on the two musicians at a programme held at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru recently in the presence of well-known artistes including Dr. S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, Venugopal Raju and Raghu Dixit.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative and concept by TAURIAN, KiMA Awards celebrates talents across the globe over multiple genres of Kannada music, with the vision of giving different musical genres the same importance and recognition.
